Apple Pay – Bringing in a New Revolution

Whether mobile applications or in store purchases, Apple Pay will change the way we make transactions!

As innovative as it can get! That’s what Apple Inc. seems to be following to the T. On 9th of September 2014 we saw the coming of Apple iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and the Apple Watch along with an introduction of iOS 8 and the Apple Pay. Though all of these together aim to change the way we use technology, the Mobile Wallet called Apple Pay is here as a breakthrough!

What is Apple Pay?

Launching in October in the United States, Apple Pay is being termed as “Your wallet without the wallet” by Apple Inc. With this all you need is a touch and voila! Payments would be made in an easy, secure and private manner.

With the new iPhone 6, with the help of the Near Field Communications antenna, all that one would need to do is to hold the iPhone near the contactless reader with the finger on the Touch ID, and a subtle vibration and a beep and it’s done! Whereas in the Apple Watch, just a double click on the button near the Digital Crown with the face of the Apple Watch near the contactless reader and a gentle pulse and beep would let you know that you’ve made the payment. Apart from this one would be able to use Apple Pay in the apps as well.

Setting up with Apple Pay:

In one line… just the way you have been saving your passes, coupons, tickets etc. on the Passbook!

By simply using the iSight camera to capture card information or typing the information on the iPhone directly, will let you add the card. Once added, all you would need to do is go to your Passbook every time you wish to use your card, select, touch and done.

Easier, Secure, and Private Purchase:

Apple takes care for your security and hence keep your purchases private and doesn’t save your transaction information. The accounts and card details would not be made available to anyone, not even Apple would store these details. Once you add in the actual card numbers, a Device Account Number would be assigned to you, and encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element which is a dedicated chip in your iPhone or Apple Watch. For all your payments, the transaction specific dynamic codes will be generated along with the Device Account Number and you’ll be able to make transactions easily and securely.

“Find My iPhone” would come in handy at all times if you lose your device and with just one swipe you’ll be able to clear your iPhone with all the data. So, quite aptly said by Apple, this would be safer than keeping the cards in a wallet at all times.

Acceptability of Apple Pay:

Visa, MasterCard and American Express will work with the Apple Pay and most of the popular and the biggest banks of America are either already participating or in the process of participating in this system. Over 220,000 stores in America, including Bloomingdales, Disney Store, Nike, Macys, Subway, Whole Food Market and many more will allow purchases to be made through the system.

Currently apps like Starbucks, Tickets.com, Disney Store, Groupon etc. will have the Apple Pay option incorporated for the payments. Apart from these now most of the applications, especially in US will want to integrate the Apple Pay option along with other payment options that they offer.

Final Words:

This Mobile Wallet system introduced by Apple is sure to see some major success because it certainly will make life so much easier. And since it will not only be compatible with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus but also with the Apple Watch which can be paired with iPhone 5, iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S (in-store purchases only) apart from the iPhone 6 Series, the Apple Pay system will definitely find its place in the market.

In fact even before its launch some of the leading mobile app development companies have already started inviting people who need their applications ready for Apple Pay. App developers have already started gaining experience and some of them are working proficiently to develop Mobile Wallet integrated applications.

While most app developers will be beginning their struggles of learning the systems of integration for Apple Pay, the most experienced mobile app development company Konstant Infosolutions have already learnt and are close to mastering the science.
