In case you missed any of the news from apple's live stream, we recapped everything you need to know about iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

And it was a big day for not just Apple Inc. but for the world of tech freaks and the rest, who over the years have fallen in love with Apple devices, as the company launched its two much awaited marvels; the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. Apart from the two phones, Apple also brought in their much anticipated hot new watch, the first ever Apple SmartWatch.

The ceremony took place on 9th September 2014 at the same place where the first Apple Macintosh Computer was unveiled by Steve Jobs; the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino, California. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Executive Tim Cook said that with the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus the company has made the biggest advancement in the history of iPhones. Joining in with Tim Cook, was Phil Schiller Senior VP for Apple, who further added that these are the best phones ever made. The phones are going to hit the markets on 19th September, post which we’ll definitely know how aptly did the two gentlemen described the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, till then, from the looks of it we can say that these might actually be a beginning of many firsts of the industry!

So what’s new and different about the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus as compared to the previous iPhones:

Evolution of iPhone

Design & Size

: Well for starters, the looks of the iPhones are the first and foremost thing that one would notice. iPhone 6 sports a 4.7 inch display whereas its sibling, iPhone 6 Plus is more of a size of a phablet with a measure of 5.5 inches. This is quite a pleasurable change because since the iPhone 3G till the 4S we were looking at same shape and size whereas even with the Apple iPhone 5 and 5S things weren’t all that different. The size difference even in these last two releases of iPhone was not much. Earlier the screen size was 3.5inches and with the iPhone 5 and 5S it went up to 4 inches whereas the width remained the same.

In today’s time when most are running after that perfect figure, even our smartphones are getting slimmer! The iPhone 6 is just 6.9mm whereas iPhone 6 Plus is 7.1mm. Their predecessor, iPhone 5S was 7.6mm.

Versatility in terms of networking capabilities:

The all new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have been made such that they allow you to communicate better wirelessly. Both the phones will support more frequencies which will allow them to operate in more counties. Further enhancing the capabilities of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple has bestowed them with a technique called carrier aggregation which allows it to utilize several frequency bands at the same time. Further, the phones will be smart enough and have the capability to re-route the phone calls over a wi-fi network in case the service quality is low.

In fact, as Apple puts it, the two new iPhones will be nearly 50% faster than the iPhone 5S by leading up to a speed of 150Mbps.

Technicalities:

The A8 chip in the new models of iPhones will be 64bit which will help improve the CPU performance by nearly 20% as compared to the predecessors and also in terms of graphics, it is being said that iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will have 50% better graphics. And with this, the world of gaming is sure to take another leap; not that the predecessors, iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S were slow.

Camera:

Of course, like always, Apple likes to keep away from the megapixel war and the new iPhones get the same 8MP as the predecessors however the sensors have improved such that the phone would take in nearly 81% more light and gets the True Tone flash which will result to a more realistic flash lightning. The Optical Image Stabilization where the lens is moved around to minimize camera shake which leads to blurred pictures is present in the Apple iPhone 6 Plus. However, the iPhone 6 simply gets the Digital Image Stabilization.

The front camera gets the HDR but the resolution remains the same at 1.2MP. It is a little disappointing in terms of camera capabilities and more so because the 4k video recording is also missing from this smartphone, which is now present in most phones whether it is a Samsung or a Motorola.

Battery Life:

One of the biggest issues with iPhones is the questionable battery life. However with the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus this seems to have been given a priority. For the iPhone 6, Audio browsing has increased by 10% and now can last up to 50 hours whereas the video browsing also sees the same improvement and it would run for about 11 hours whereas the same stands true for the WiFi browsing as well. If we talk about 3G talktime, it nearly goes up by 40% and could last for about 14 hours whereas the LTE based browsing remains stagnant at 10 hours.
Moving on to the iPhone 6 Plus, the Audio goes up to nearly 80 hours whereas Video sees a 40% boost and goes up to 14hours whereas the 3G talktime goes up to 24 hours, brosing up to 12hours and WiFi Browsing along with LTW browsing nearly go up to 12 hours, which might not looks great but still is a major leap ahead.

Operating System:

Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be using the iOS 8 which will lead to better performance, better battery life and better integrations. iOS 8 will allow interactions form one device to the other as user moves from one device to the other thereby allowing one to use the PC on their desk in the first hour and continue the same on the iPad while chilling on the lounger. Apple also brings in the QuickType which will guess the word that user will type next and apart from this, iOS 8 will also support 3rd party keyboards.

Apple has always allowed users to synchronize the music, calendars, data etc between devices and taking this a step further, now the iCloud Drive would be a service as simple and efficient as a Google Drive or a Dropbox.

Where do the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus stand against the competition:

Samsung Galaxy S5, the HTC One M8, Nokia Lumia 930, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Moto X etc. fall in the same race as the iPhone 6s.

Last word:

The redesign, improved battery life, better storage and the other added features are sure to give the users a lot of benefits which will make their lives easier. With the iOS 8 and better networking capabilities even the slight problems that we face with iPhones now and then, are sure to be resolved. Thus with the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the company has surely given the world something to talk about! Rather, it won’t be wrong and inappropriate to say that with the new iPhones, Apple has given users a “smart” smartphone which will make lives simpler, technology more fun and organization way too easy! All in all, a complete package.
