A Unique Device Identifier (UDID), contained in each and every iPhone or iPad touch, is a sequenced line-up of 40 alphanumeric characters that are device specific. It acts as a serial number, is a bit exaggerated and is quite difficult to remember!

A UDID is a unique identifier that Apple associates to a device; just in the same was as IMEI numbers are attached to Android Phones. Every iphone device (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) comes with a 40 character alphanumeric string along with a 24 character identifier with a dash after 8 digit, this makes every device unique.
How UDID works?
The UDID project has been initiated by the Department of Empowerment of People with Disabilities aiming to help them with issuance of universal ID and Disability Certificates for Person with Disabilities with their identification and disability details. It essentially includes:
This makes the data available to the person anywhere, anytime while they are travelling.
UDID helps in case they submit an online application for job/exam/course
Having a UDID speeds up the assessment process by calculating percentage of disability by the concerned medical organization/board
UDID card can be renew and update any information online on the person’s behalf
UDID helps in managing interoperability of the benefits/schemes launched by the Government for PwD as it works on MIS reporting framework
UDID has the scope to be upgraded in case the number of disabilities goes beyond 7.
How UDID Helps?
Knowing UDID helps people with disabilities as they do not tend to remember the numbers or keep multiple copies of documents, as the card will capture and then has to be decoded with the help of a reader.
How to find your UDID number (iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and earlier versions)
Launch iTunes and connect your iPad iPhone,or iPod (device)
Under devices Click on your device
Next click on serial number
This should change the serial number into UDID
Choose edit and then Copy from the ITunes menu.
Paste into your Email and you should see the UDID in your email message
How to find UDID in iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone XS?
Connect your iPhone to MAC device
Navigate to ‘About this MAC’
Click on system report and select USB
Select iPhone
Copy the value next to the serial number label
Paste the value copied in step 5 above
Add a dash after the 8th digit and this is your UDID.
