IOT: Birth of New Internet Generation

IOT, when we hear the name of this phrase, the immediate perception comes in our mind is something related to Internet. Somewhere we are correct on the perception but not exact as it is itself a Future aka Wake up call.

Internet of Things (lOT) is an integrated and core part of Future Internet and could be defined as a dynamic global network infrastructure with self configuring capabilities based on standard and inter-operable communication protocols, where physical and virtual ‘things’ have identities, physical-attributes, virtual personalities, use intelligent interfaces, and are seamlessly integrated into the information network. In the lOT, ‘things’ are expected to become active participants in business, information and social processes where they are enabled to interact and communicate among themselves and with the environment by exchanging data and information ‘sensed’ about the environment, while reacting autonomously to the “real/physical world’ events and influencing it by running processes that triggers actions and create services with or without direct human intervention. Interfaces in the form of services facilitate interactions with these ‘smart things’ over the Internet, query and change their state and any information associated with them, taking into account security and privacy issues.

Over the past century but accelerating over the past couple of decades we have seen the emergence of kind global data field. The planet itself, natural system, the human system, physical arm jacks, etc have always generated in anonymous form of data. We didn’t be able to see, hear and capture it but now we can because all the stuff are now instrumented and they all are connected and we have access to feel the entire stuff.

It’s about the 1 billion people who are using internet at this moment and there are no two doubts that this number is going to be 2 billion within couple of years. I have been booking devices being linked up together using networks senses on things like temperature sensors, traffic sensors, water flow rate of sensors, Data speed transmitting etc

The ideal day I guess it would be when my entire stuff will be handled by devices.

As we all know that the Internet of Things (IoT) is immensely huge topic which is actually on each and everyone’s tongue these days and circulating like fire, but one thing according to my perception is lets go with its practical approach first which I believe very important to point out.  HOSPA in 2013 suggested that there was one device connected to the internet per person on earth. They have predicted that by the year 2020, this number touches a new range which will be like 9 devices per person. Current scenarios is, 80 ‘things’ get connected to the internet every second whereas by just next few years, we would be able to see major explore of more than 250 ‘things’ connected to the internet every second.

This change will have a huge impact on the entire technical industries, which are already major beneficiaries of new and future ‘connected’ innovations. In order to increase the operational efficiency and to get the more personalized guest experience we need to go with IOT solutions to achieve the relevant concern. Mobility and convenience are two shared critical components of the Industry, making them a natural fit.

We can define IOT Physical objects would be connected to the internet everyday and would be able to recognize themselves on other devices, while gathering and sharing data. Researchers said that 71.9% of transportation, travel and hospitality executives are using IOT in their mobile apps for their Customers. If we compared it with the Business Executive this is somewhere 46.5% overall.

Internet of Things: What if you get the service like this

What happened when you think something to do and that will be figure out just by operating the devices. Well you read it right, please have a look on some of the relevant examples.

> “What If you miss your flight and auto-rebooking could be done.”

> “What if you open your hotel room with your device, as you’ve downloaded a digital key.”

> “What if you can track your luggage, by putting a sensor in Smartphone applications.”

> “What if you get the notification on your Smartphone about the waiting time at airports.”

> “what if you can operate all the electronic appliances through one touch of your Smartphone”

> “what if you get the notification on your smartphone from your smart refrigerator about the availability of grocery and dairy products in it”

Existence of IOT in Today’s Business

Hotel Room Doors: Hilton announced that guests will be able to use their Smartphone as their room key will be digitalize in majority of hotel rooms by 2016

Aeroplanes: The Airbus A380 has components fitted with sensors to monitor wear and tear in real time. This continually generated data allows Airbus to maintain a dynamic maintenance process and optimize performance

Airports: London City Airport would be the 1st airport to implement IoT.

IOT with Konstant:

Konstant keep their employees engaged with the new advancements in the internet i.e. IOT. Konstant is adhering of all the standard IT protocols and working impeccably with all the system.
