An acronym for \u201cYes It Is\u201d, Yii is a framework of PHP web application, and an object-oriented, open source MVC. Yii project was stared on January 1, 2008 by Qiang Xue, who has also previously developed the framework called Prado. The feedback of developers and the experienced that was gained from that project solidified the requirement of a much secured and fast framework that is customizable and can meet the expectations of web 2.0 application development. After a year\u2019s development from then, PHP Yii was finally released to the public on December 3, 2008.
