An agreement has been signed between the two stating that Fabric will now be a part of Google Developer Products Group. Further details of the deal haven’t been out yet as both the parties are zipped up at the moment.
Fabric is a mobile app development platform that helps developers to build high-quality apps with better understanding and stability. The entire Fabric team will merge with existing Google’s Firebase team and work together as a unit to help developers in producing high-end mobile applications.
The officials at Fabric, which was launched in 2014 claim that their tools have reached to over 2.5 billion mobile devices while more than 580 thousand mobile developers have used them. Tools include Digits and Crashlytics. Digits, a phone number authentication service will be maintained by Twitter during the transition period while Crashlytics, a tool for better interpretation of data will be taken care of by Google. Crashlytics and Digits are regarded as the best SDKs in the industry for app stability and analytics.
The developers using Fabric tools can continue to do so as there won’t be any changes to the offerings part. However, the terms of service are subject to change, which you, as a developer need to keep in mind.
The Firebase product manager, Francis Ma wrote in the blog, “This is a great moment for the industry and a unique opportunity to bring the best of Firebase with the best of Fabric.” Adding to that he wrote, “We’re committed to making mobile app development seamless so that developers can focus more of their time on building creative experiences.”
“While we have found a new home for Fabric, developers remain important to Twitter. We are committed to continuing to invest in our public APIs, our Publisher Platform products including Twitter Kit and TweetDeck, our Ads API, MoPub, and Gnip.”, said Jack Dorsey, Co-Founder and CEO of Twitter in his tweet.
Twitter became stagnate lately in its growth and profitability, but hope with this merger things shoot up for the social network. More details will be out in coming weeks once the deal gets closed.
