#Annual Picnic: Best Day Trip Marked by Glamping & Tombstoning

I'm sure this sounds obvious, but as I start with the basics, you'll feel as though you've shared in my experience: A trip to recharge, rest, rewind and restore!

Can changing how we think about weekends could improve our feelings of overall happiness? We often struggle for ideas to make weekend and subsequent weekdays productive! For some, it means sleeping in longer, or making breakfast for their family, go out for brunch, movie or shopping as they typically enjoy doing on a vacation. Others do a bit less homework or commit to leaving all the work for Monday instead of allowing it to spill into their weekend.

As beautiful scenery and eclectic photos adorn this post, we share our experience of traveling with our chosen companions and what encouraged us to meet the people along the way. Aptly described by American author and humorist Mark Twain, “I have found out that there isn’t the no surer way to find out whether you like people or hate them than to travel with them.”

The world is tired of being busy. Humble bragging about working weekends isn’t just the ticket to perks anymore. Many intellectuals including people from higher management are talking about slowing down, savoring weekends, even as top organizations are taking measures to give employees time to unwind. But how does one chasten their 24*7 connected mind and reset it to relax mode?

Working towards reinventing the idea, Konstant’s management hand-picked the best resort day trip to plan out a holiday package, for their employees, within Jaipur. It was 31st August 2019 (Saturday), a casual humid + sunny afternoon and we were relentlessly waiting for a downpour. As we sped to the tropical paradise hidden away and isolated from civilization we gazed through the lush green tropical vegetation (as expected after monsoons) with man-made infrastructure peeking out through them. We came across many water-laden streams and out of curiosity most of us were tempted to jump out of our car and climb the log that had fallen across the stream. As we jumped out, few others wobbled their way over the log. We noticed that the log was hollow so we scampered through it for a while until someone called us to hop back and squash together on our seats. We reached our destination via our buses, travelers, and cars – mid-afternoon. When we looked over to our shoulders were greeted with slides, swings, lush green lawns, theme parks perched besides large water bodies blending in with the hues of blue that you don’t even know the name to. It was certainly an experience that will be engraved into our minds for long. Soon-after we headed towards the pool and activity areas.  Our itinerary included:

Recreational activities at the resort:

  • Pool and water slides
  • Rain dance, Dj
  • Camel cart and horse riding

Games:

  • Lawn tennis
  • Badminton
  • Volley Ball
  • Cricket

Adventure Games:

  • Burma Bridge
  • Tire wall, Rope climbing
  • Wall Climbing
  • Hula hoop Team activity – (Coordination, Teamwork)
  • Blind Trust Walk – (Coordination, bonding, leadership)
  • Human Tunnel (Coordination, Teamwork)

Other Attractions:

  • Rajasthani, Punjabi, Gujarati Dance
  • Magic Show, Gymnastic Show
  • Shooting, Archery

People at all levels, every team wished to get the most of the experience in the limited time that we had in our excursion. In the evening we all indulged in the sumptuous buffets for dinner accompanied by some wonderful drinks, explored the reefs while gazing through the stars, dip into the huge infinity pool, relaxed at poolside followed by enormous DJ party.

As it was time to depart, a small piece of poetry by Vikram Seth, popular Indian writer, echoed well with the exuberance of the occasion:

“Let me now sleep, let me not think, let me
Not ache with inconsistent tenderness. It was an untenable delight; we are free–
Separate, equal–and if loverless,
Love consumes time which is more dear than love,
More unreplicable. With everything
Thus posited, the choice was clear enough
And daylight ratified our reckoning.”

Food satisfied every taste bud. It was a natural paradise surrounded by tranquility and untainted by the modern toxicity. It proved to be a haven for budget travelers bringing a little bit of diversity to our getaway. We returned by the end of the day until it was almost dark. As we travel back in time and reminisce every moment from the trip, the most happiness comes in the form of anticipation and recollection. Getting excited from the last trip and the best of all we can remember those trips for the rest of our lives.
