iPhone X is 40% more expensive than iPhone 8. So, if you have cost in mind, iPhone 8 should be a better choice for you.
So, as you can see iPhone 8 is slightly smaller and thinner in size. Which also affects the weight of the device and iPhone 8 wins here with a difference of 26 grams.
With iPhone X, you can expect a far better screen reception and higher definition.
iPhone 8 comes with a 12 MP camera (with ƒ/1.8 aperture) while iPhone X has two cameras of the same capacity (with ƒ/1.8 aperture wide-angle and ƒ/2.4 aperture telephoto camera) on the rear side of it. You will also get a 10x optical zoom with iPhone X which makes it far better for taking pictures.
Over the front side, iPhone 8 sports a 7 MP FaceTime HD camera with Retina Flash. However, iPhone X has a 7MP TrueDepth camera with Portrait mode and Portrait Lighting option.
Which makes iPhone X a clear winner in terms of camera.
Here comes one major difference between the two. iPhone X does not have the trademark Home Button! Now, that seems to be something iPhone lovers would not kind of identify with. Among many obvious turn-offs, the major one is that as an iPhone X user you will have to adapt to a new way of navigation. Also, with this the long-held Touch ID is now replaced with Face ID (to allow you to unlock your phone, authenticate access and to do the payments).
So, if you look to go with the conventions, iPhone 8 should be your choice.
Here are some of the keys pecifications for both phones.
Color choices
Water resistance
Capacity
Processor chip
Battery life
Wireless charging
Both of the phones have their own share of advantages and limitations. Here, if you look at the differences in terms of quality, you will see them coming in form of camera, display and battery and enhanced detailing and quality tweaks. All of which comes for the extra price you pay to acquire iPhone X. As, you can see one comes at a starting price of $699 and another one at a price of $999. So, there’s a prominent difference here. But considering that too, with this hike in quality iPhone X takes over iPhone 8.
Among other important things, you get a bigger size and expanded screen with iPhone X. Which can be favored by some users and disliked by the others. The major change is the removal of the Home Button (and with that Face ID replacing the Touch ID) from iPhone X. Which is something not all will identify with easily. And iPhone 8 gains an edge here with its trademark feel and compressed size.
So, as we can see here, both iPhone X and iPhone 8 have their own set of qualities and trait to offer. If you think more towards the quality and innovation side and are ready to pay that extra sum you can go with iPhone X. Otherwise, if you would like to go with more of a conventional iPhone you should stick to iPhone 8.
