Before they asked for a dime, Manish did a whole writeup on the scope of work, number of hours and estimated cost, before I actually had to outlay any money. They were very upfront with that and gave me all the information I needed.
I found them on a Web search. I think it was top 100 Web developers, or a similar directory site. I kind of shopped around. One quote that I had was for $350,000. I thought that was ridiculous. I made a few more calls, I didn’t give up. Then I talked with Manish [Jain, founder and managing director] at Konstant Solutions, and he was very helpful. They came back with a price that I could afford.
Designing a mobile application and developing it was the only service provided.
Opportunity / Challenge
Basically, my kids and I missed the ice cream truck one day and I thought about some way that I could let the ice cream guy know that we’re here, and have money to spend with him. So, we came up with the idea of creating an app where the ice cream truck would have a vendor app, and then the client app would be out there for free to download. Anytime the ice cream truck entered the neighborhood, it would play the little ice cream jingle, and you could tell him that you wanted to buy ice cream. It would mark on his map where you were so he could find you and make a sale. The app is available on iPhone and Android.
Background
It’s a new startup company I started after I had an idea for an app. I just had an idea and decided to use an app to express that idea. The concept has to do with ice cream trucks.
I am the owner, but my day job is in the IT [information technology] industry.
Project Summary
Konstant Infosolutions designed and developed the client’s core mobile app for both iOS and Android, and then worked on additional features.
Feedback Summary
The vendor not only provided a quote much lower than other prospective companies the client interviewed, but was also very upfront in describing the work they could do. Konstant Infosolutions was professional and communicative throughout the process, and worked very quickly.
Result & Feedback
Their pricing is very attractive. They seem to work harder upfront than some of the other companies. I called a couple different firms here in the U.S., and not only was the cost much higher, but they wouldn’t put forth any real upfront effort into quoting or talking to me. That really made me feel a lot better about working with Konstant. They were very professional. They called me on a regular basis to give me updates. They had a project portal where they would put notes and updates, and if I had any input I could add notes. Especially considering the time difference, they were very good about communication.
They did all the artwork, they did everything related to design. I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly they were able to do it. There are some things I’ve gone back to them to improve currently to enhance the final product. When I came out with this, it was new, I’ve never seen anyone write an app to do this. I’ve since talked to people in the industry and received some additional ideas, but everything that I asked for in the original project was delivered.
