Succeeding several Beta versions, the final version of iOS 9.2 is finally out and the consumers were eager form last few weeks about the same. It lends its support to iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch units and is just 300 MB in size depending upon the type of device. Since the advanced version came with a long list of enhancements and bug fixes and that’s why it is set to be installed as soon as possible.
This version of iOS is compatible with almost all the major devices and is very light weight with just 250 MB download. The device can be updated automatically or can be done manually by following the path:
Setting>General>Software Update
The OS version does not bring any new features, but still there are several highlights that must be noted:
Use your Wireless Number on a plethora of devices using AT&T
Apple iOS 9.2 supports AT&T NumberSync and that’s why very similar to Apple Continuity feature with little advancements. On one hand continuity lets you make calls using other Apple devices, but it solely depends upon your cellular network connections. On the other hand AT&T NumberSync lets you make phone calls from your iPad, EI Captain based Macs, Apple watch and other devices using Wi-Fi without needing your iPhone to be near you.
Newer App Have Top Stories
Apple users have loved the Apple News, an app that automatically collects content and news based on the interests that one selects. iOS 9.2 includes this Apple News update that features and highlight the Top Stories. This ensures that the users get upgraded with the current and important news of the day set by the Apple News editorial teams. More importantly, these news are published multiple times a day as per confirmed till now.
Apple Music gets Changed
Apple Music is slated to get several improvements and now the users can create new playlist that contain the songs selected, that can be done when you click option- Add to playlist. Moreover, the users can download albums and playlists from iCloud Music Library by selecting the iCloud download button. However, there is no download indicator that is displayed next to songs in Music and Playlist to check which are downloaded.
Safari View Controller
iOS 9.2 brings a new pinch to the Safari view Controller, which allow and accept third party Action Extensions. When Safari is opened inside a third party app then, will still have access to other useful third party application. Further, Safari View Controller also lend support a reload button which help to load content without any ad in association with a desktop page. Meanwhile, Safari window will now be dismissed by Edge Swipe.
Mail Drop
Fortunately the app has been released for both iPhone and iPad having iOS 9.2. The app used iCloud Drive within the Mail Drop app that quickly and easily sends bulky files of as high as 5 GB.
iBook
3D touch is introduced to iBooks with iOS 9.2 and dictionary search can easily be performed on any specific word if you select it with a pressure push. The users can also hear Audio-books which seems to be promising and interesting feature. Yet the practicality and working of this feature remains to be seen.
Despite so many features list addition, there are massive list of bugs within. Deciding whether it is worth the upgrade or its better to steer clear of relies on the user themselves. The massive list of bug fixes that iOS 9.2 marries are the calling card. They have worked upon almost all the major apps of the operating system including Camera, Contacts, Mails, Podcasts, Wallet etc. Another good thing is that the updated version will run a lot better than regular or earlier versions. Whether these all are fixed or not, is impossible to say! Yet we can expect major changes waiting for the users.
On the top of that, Apple has also confirmed that iOS 9.2 has some lag issues, that are reported by Pro owners, fortunately that is very less percentile. However, the owners of iPad and iPhone have found their devices to work smoother and swift. One word warning: iOS 9.2 hosts no jailbreak. And this was expected as the previous versions also didn’t have any jail breaks.
