Are you one of those technology geeks who are passionate about devices that have completely transformed our lifestyles? You must be aware of upgraded devices launching every month with unique and innovative technologies.

New inclusions to the technology arena are the latest from ‘i’ family – iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Similar in design to that of iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, it packs a range of internal upgrades, which calls for a closer look.

Here is a great read on iPhone SE vs iPhone 6S.

Considered as a game changer in mobile technology world, Apple has done significant changes, though not in terms of design but to make customers drool over these latest entrants. The new iPhones come with an improved battery life, enhanced camera, lightning processor and pressure-sensitive home button.

Most excitingly, the company has pulled off the headphone jack from these versions but has offered them with a pair of Lightning-connected ‘EarPods’ and a 3.5mm ‘Lightning converter’, which works as a headphone plug.

To understand what exactly the US company is offering with iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, here we have compiled a list of features that you need to know before you visit your nearest Apple store for the next purchase. Trust me, there’s a lot of unknown and interesting modifications.

No Headphone Jack

Apple has kept headphone jack out of the picture, which has been a real buzz on digital media lately.

Instead of the jack, the company has incorporated stereo speakers, both on the top as well as the bottom of the device. The headphone jack’s space has been utilized for this task and according to the company officials, it now offers an enhanced dynamic range for audio output.

However, for the headphones lovers, a pair of Lightning EarPods along with a Lightning converter, which connects via charging port, are packed inside the device box. The major drawback with these EarPods is that you won’t be able to charge and listen to your favorite tracks at the same time.

To enhance wireless audio output, Apple has built a new device called ‘AirPods’, which is powered by a W1 chip. With a battery life of 5 hours, no wires at all, these tiny ear plugs would certainly do the trick for music maniacs.

What’s important to note here is that Apple AirPods aren’t a part of the box and you need to spend a few more dollars to relish them.

Aesthetics and Colors

Apple hasn’t shown any signs of upgrades as far as designing of new iPhones is concerned. They are similar to their predecessors with a minor tweak in the placement of antenna bands, now shifted to the edges from the back of the device. Plus, a device colored periphery can be seen surrounding the dual camera system on iPhone 7 Plus, which adds to its elite exterior appeal.

Talking about the color options, the new iPhones will be offered in five different colors- gold, rose gold, matte black, glossy black and silver. The shiny black finished iPhone is exclusively for 128GB and 256GB models.

New and Enhanced Camera Setup

Most popular and demanding feature of all, Apple has taken its camera quality beyond customer’s expectations, to an improved dimension.

While 7 Plus has been integrated with a dual camera system, its little 4.7” sibling is coupled with a single yet more effective 12MP camera sensor. Cameras of both models have been optimized to capture quality pictures even in dim light.

Further, the number of LEDs included in the flash is now increased to four, two warm and two cool- reflecting a source of natural light instead of a typical flashlight. This means 50% more light is at your disposal while clicking. Image stabilization feature has also been included to capture shots like a pro.

Zooming frames while clicking has always been a negative of Apple, which now seems to be taken into account by iPhone 7 Plus’s dual camera system. There are two 12MP cameras at the back, one for a wider angle while other is a telephoto lens that can zoom 2X without compromising the quality of images.

For selfie lovers, new iPhones are coupled with a 7MP camera instead of 5MP to have a better image quality and facetime experience.

Power packed performance

iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are tailored with fastest ever apple processor to control a smartphone, i.e. A10 Fusion. It is a 64-bit quad-core processor, which runs 40% faster than the present A9 in the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. Compared to the original iPhone, it is 120 times faster. Incredible! Isn’t it?

High-performance actions as well as efficiency-centered operations are taken care of by the processor granting an extensive battery life to the device. The graphics of new models have been enhanced too.

iPhone 7 is powered up with a 2GB RAM while the higher range of the device comes with a RAM size of 3GB.

Improved Battery life

Another useful upgrade is its battery life. According to Apple experts, they will serve the best battery life as compared to others on the iPhone list. 7 will be better than 6S by an improved life of 2 more hours while 7 Plus will surpass 6S Plus by a duration of one hour.

iPhone is now water resistant

Now you are talking! You don’t have to worry about your phone getting wet in rains or slipping from the hand while you are strolling along the beach line. With an IPX67 rating, your new iPhones are now water-resistant, which means their hardware can stay undamaged immersed in water for 30 minutes up to water level of one meter.

Pressure-sensitive home button

The home button is no longer clickable but it simulates via vibration when touched, just the same way as MacBook (Apple laptops). It now offers a ‘Taptic’ feedback to the users, which is considered to be a completely new feature for the future iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus users.

Storage Stacks Revised

It looks like the company is on a roll to make changes that ignite controversies. No 16GB and 64GB options with 7 and 7 Plus. Instead, a user can opt for either 32GB, 128GB or 256GB storage.

Jet black colored iPhone is available with only two options – 128GB and 256GB.

How much does it cost?

By not beating around the bush, we go straight. iPhone 7 will cost you $649 for 32GB while 7 Plus 32GB will make you spend a total of $749.

iPhone 7- $749 (128GB), $849 (256GB)

iPhone 7 Plus- $849 (128GB), $949 (256GB)

Ready to buy?

Apple has started accepting orders from September 9, while the shipping for the same starts from September 16. The company rolled out iOS 10 officially on September 13.
