The most modern and open-source database program gets a new version, and trust me it has a lot of new things on the offer list - Multimodel capabilities, improved GUI and more. Read below to know everything in detail about the new MongoDB.

Released back in 2009 with a modern approach to simplify data management for developers and enterprises, MongoDB marked its presence in the technology domain with its simple and easy-to-implement capabilities.

Now, after a series of updates, it’s ready to catch the attention once again with its new MongoDB 3.4 release. More enterprise-level robustness has been drafted to the model while capabilities like data management, consistency and placement remain on top.

It’s more flexible, mature and dynamic, allowing developers to embed more use cases to its deployment. Data storage, management and placement are as easy as a pie, which no other NoSQL database offers. It’s important for a multinational firm to place data within their allocated boundaries and MongoDB does the same with ease.

The new 3.4 version is powered with multimodel capabilities, cross-region scaling, improved GUI and an extended version of its BI connector. It now aids in quick visualizing and reporting, which will prove beneficial for companies.

As per President and CEO of MongoDB, Dev Ittycheria, “This new release redefines what it means to be the state-of-the-art database technology, and enables innovators to build and run more mission-critical workloads on MongoDB.”

Multimodel Capabilities

Multimodel capabilities

The latest release adds new capabilities for simplified and reliable deployment, which will make life easier for developers. New functionalities like graph analytics and faceted search operators have been included with powerful methodologies. This will allow organizations to deliver data to users in more efficient and efficacious manner. Since the use cases included are native to the database, there won’t be an issue in integrating the same to the existing system.

The faceted features of search operator have been optimized finely to produce desired results. Not like earlier, where you must write the entire search logic externally and wait until the database process the same query for you. The all-new SQL interface is good enough for data scientists in exploring desired datasets and insights from modern applications using BI tools.

Cross-region scaling has been enhanced with the help of Zones that possess the capability of elastic database partitioning. Zones allow overcoming the challenge of abiding data sovereignty laws for local data centers and can be integrated effectively into MongoDB’s management tools.

The elasticity has been improved by faster auto-balancing of data across distributed clusters. Developers can now feel more powerful in deploying tasks as there won’t be any app downtime. They can quickly and easily scale data as per the requirement.

Advanced Tools and Security

Advanced tools and security

MongoDB Compass comes as a powerful and useful tool to identify, explore and edit data. It is equipped with CRUD operations, which grant the power to create, manipulate and apply validation rules for performance uplift.

Read-only views have been included for eradicating the risk of data exposure by applying unique filters and masks across all the datasets. An easy access to data is granted to application development teams while taking proper care of sensitive data like Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

Ops Manager is upgraded for simplifying MongoDB administration and extended support for custom Database-as-a-service. It now enables teams to create server pools to serve DBaaS to internal teams.

On-demand MongoDB Atlas

On demand MongoDB Atlas

MongoDB Atlas, an on-demand cloud DBaaS, allows agencies to quickly evaluate and scrutinize new features present in the latest 3.4 version. Plus, VPC (Virtual Private Cloud) peering has also been included allowing teams to connect to their application servers via private networks without compromising security. Atlas has managed to attain a special place in the market since its launch and has been integrated by a variety of organizations and industry leading agencies like eHarmony and Thermo Fisher Scientific.

The new MongoDB 3.4 version will be available for use at the start of December this year. It will certainly change the way organizations store, manage and work with the data. Officials at MongoDB said that they wanted to build a database that can handle any kind of datasets and empower it with the capabilities to query in every way possible. And we believe it will do exactly what’s said.
