Till date iOS 11 is considered to bring the most transformed and updated Apple OS experience to its users. It has been highly ambitious in offering promised features with each iOS 11 release and has proved to fulfill that quite impressively. Now, moving ahead as we can see iOS 11.2 coming out, the fraternity is all excited to see what it is all about. So, let’s find out what this big update has in its bag for us.
The latest from the tech-leader’s womb – iOS 11.2, comes with some significant updates and tweaks. The most talked-about of the lot are Messages synced through iCloud and Apple Pay Cash. Though these updates haven’t turned up in the Beta versions yet but are being touted to be there in the final release.
Thus far, till the second release we have seen a few changes in the form of small bug fixes and design hikes. Of these the major ones are with the calculator app where you had to wait for stretched animations to play before you get the results. Also, the erroneous results that occurred due to the wrong calculation inputs (If you enter 1+2+3 you’d get 23) are now fixed.
Among the visual changes you will see a few emojis in a new avatar. Album art will appear in a new square icon, delayed animation for live photos will be there (with loop, bounce, and long exposure). Also, there will be access to new live wallpapers for iPhone X users.
Talking about the functionality updates, the Beta 2 also features the ability to control AirPlay 2 devices in the Control Center. Now you can also switch between multiple destinations controlling programs independently. Which seems to be an early preparation for the upcoming HomePod.
All these appear to be most likely features of the new iOS. However, as always is the case, you can find them dropping or tweaking a couple of these while adding some new ones to the list, as we reach closer to the release date. But, the ones with major stakes are going to be there anyway.
There’s no officially announced date for the release of iOS 11.2 yet. But, if we go as per the launch news of Apple products we can reach somewhere closer to the date. As per that, we can expect to have access to the new iOS by December 2017. It can even be released towards the end of November, few days before the launch of HomePod. But, one thing with this is confirm that you do not have to wait for the major update too much.
Just after allowing iOS developers to get an access to the developer’s Beta version of 11.2 on October 30th, Public Beta was released on 1st of November. If you are looking to have it and check out the changes and updates before the OS release, you can get it here:
Log on to Beta Software Program page. Here you will see a link to enroll your iOS device. Once you get in, you will be reminded to take a backup, which you should do to avoid any chance of data loss. Here, archiving the data to iTunes would be the best option. Once you do this, you are asked to go to beta.apple.com/profile on your device, where you would be putting up the Public Beta of iOS 11.2. Here, you need to download and install a configuration profile which will allow you to see the over-the-air software update in your phone’s Settings.
