Diwali or Dipawali interweaves Deep + AAvali, which implies an array of earthen lamps. It is celebrated on the new moon day in Karthik Month, according to the Hindu Calendar. It is popularly celebrated for 5 days in a row.
Diwali, the festival of lights, is essentially characterized by the virtues of (1) Goodness, (2) Patience, (3) Humility, (4) Kindness, and (5) Togetherness. Let’s understand why?
Diwali is celebrated in a unique way in different regions of the country:
Deepawali marks the beginning of the winter chills and the beginning of the New Year in a few states. Followers of the Jain Religion welcome Diwali as the liberation day of Lord Mahavira (Moksha Kalyanak Diwas). Followers of the Sikh religion celebrate Diwali as Bandi Chhor Divas. It is a Sikh celebration to commemorate the day of the sixth Guru of Sikhs, Guru Hargobind when he released 52 prisoners from the Gwalior Fort, who were imprisoned by Mughal Emperor Jahangir. Many more denominations of Diwali include:
Elaborate rangoli (Rangavalli, Kolam) patterns, laughter, music, talent shows, floral decorations, and the lively cafeteria marked the beginning of the festivities at Konstant. Unlike “yester” years, this time we chalked a portion of our working day by appending it with festive preparations, followed by the Diwali party including:
Participants were over-enthusiastic with dance and music sequences, ramp walk, mimicry, singing, guitar, stand-up comedy, and comparing which was the highlight of the day. Every team clicked selfies a week earlier as HR’s had to mark the most volatile participation, exceptional art forms, tricky angles, themes, dress, expressions, uniqueness, and overall creativity.
All the teams/participants were adequately rewarded for their willingness to participate, being cheerful, and keeping up the Konstant spirit.
All the performances were followed by tempting dinner and gift distribution by the people in charge. Diwali is synonymous with spirituality, auspiciousness, and beautiful aesthetics. It is the occasion to officially sparkle, show off your talent (verbal or non-verbal), create meaningful rangolis, indulge in sweets, and carve an impactful niche for upcoming generations. This is how youngsters learn. They imbibe the traits of their seniors and carry them forward. Practicing traditional art forms brings prosperity and good luck into the workplace. This encircled our Diwali festivities.
